Survey Technologies and Blog Reflections

As an educator, I would use a tools like Qualtrics and Excel to better understand the needs of my students and receive better feedback for my teaching. I would likely give out a survey at the end of the year to my students and likely their parents so that I could discern what aspects of my profession I would need to improve on. I would also probably use excel as a way of organizing grades and assignments, in case the institution I work with does not have that kind of technology. I plan on spending lots of time with students and schools of low socio-economic status, so these technologies can absolutely help me perform my best as a teacher.

The most interesting topics I have found by reading my peers' blogs is perhaps the integration of technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality in the classroom. I feel that there is near limitless potential for these kinds of technologies to evolve and grow to accommodate the needs of the future generation of students. In the same vein, I feel as if there is a lot of need for Open Educational Resources to make a jump into the mainstream. Providing resources for students at a disadvantage is something that I hold of high import, and OER's do just that.

I would be very interested in learning how to best implement personal technology like cell phones and laptops in the classroom. I would also very much like to study/learn more about effective pedagogical gameification, and how best to implement games as a form of learning in the classroom. I find that fun, interactive mediums like games help students grasp and apply concepts much easier than traditional methods of teaching, such as lecturing, so I would like to know more on that topic!
